View ProductsWHAT IS A ROTARY SCREW COMPRESSOR?
A Rotary screw compressor compresses air via a rotary positive displacement mechanism. It consists of two interlocking helical screws, known as rotors, which rotate in opposite directions within a chamber. As the rotors turn, air is drawn into the chamber and progressively compressed as the space between the rotors decreases.
Working Principles of Rotary Screw Compressors
The process starts with the intake of atmospheric air, which is drawn in through a suction filter. This filtered air is then directed into the air end, housing the screw rotor element responsible for compression. Within the air end, the atmospheric air undergoes compression, resulting in higher pressure, and is subsequently stored in an air receiver tank for later use.
To enable the smooth and continuous movement of the screw rotor element, essential components such as bearings and lubricating oil are employed. These components play vital roles in ensuring efficient compressor operation by reducing friction and preventing excessive wear. Bearings provide support for the rotating shafts, enabling the rotors to rotate freely with minimal resistance. The lubricating oil in oil lubricated compressors acts as a lubricant, reducing friction between moving parts and helping to dissipate heat generated during compression.
Benefits of Rotary Screw Compressor
PROVIDES A SMOOTH AND CONTINUOUS FLOW OF COMPRESSED AIR
ELGi’s Rotary Screw Air compressors are high in efficiency, as they excel at converting power into compressed air with minimal energy. This means there we save more on energy. Another significant benefit is their ability to provide a continuous and smooth flow of compressed air.
ELGi Screw compressors are designed to occupy less space and operate at lower noise levels, helping with situations where the compressors are to be placed indoors and noise sensitive environments. Rotary Screw air compressors are built to withstand demanding operating conditions. These robust screw compressors are available in various sizes and configurations to meet specific air requirements for various industrial compressed air applications.
